Reversi, also known as Othello, is a great board game for all ages! Here you can play it and test your skills against the computer.
The game consists of two colored bricks that can be turned over to switch color. The players take turn to place bricks. A brick is placed so that it "traps" the opponents bricks between itself and another brick of its own color. Look at this example:
Here the black player has three bricks (1). White player moves, and places a brick to the left, thus trapping the black bricks between two white bricks (2). The black bricks are turned and becomes white bricks! (3)
Moves like this can be made vertically, horizontally or diagonally. A brick may only be placed where it generates a turnover. The winner is the player who has the most bricks of his own color on the board when the board is filled or when no more moves can be made.
Tip: The corners are the most valuable squares on the board! The edges are also good placements.
Tip: Beginners usually play "greedy" games, ie they try to turn over as many bricks in each turn. But more advanced players sacrifice turnovers for moves that give more advantages in the long run...
